USASA Nationals

We work closely with the USASA national office to make sure that our qualifying athletes have everything they need leading up to nationals every year. If you have questions about qualification, filing a petition or anything else regarding nationals, please email Joel Erickson at jerickson@usasa.org.

All Nationals invite information is available on usasa.org under the National Championships tab.

The information below can also be found in the USASA Rulebook, rules 103.03-103.08.

There are a few ways to qualify for Nationals:

1. National Champions from the previous year in each discipline are pre-qualified for the National Championships provided they are current USASA members in good standing. Previous year’s National Champion will be seeded first in that discipline at the current National Championship.

2. Regional Champions are qualified through competing in our series. We take your best two places in a discipline to determine where you stand in your age group. If we find a tie (for example you have two firsts in Slopestyle but someone else in your age group also has two firsts) it's broken by comparing the two athletes when they have competed together, through judge's scores, times, etc.  In the event that there is still a tie our Series Director Joel Erickson will be the deciding vote.

3. You can also qualify through National points, accrued throughout the season. A set amount of athletes from each age group (this number is determined toward the very end of the season) are qualified through national points. To see where you're currently ranked, go to usasa.org and click on the Rankings tab. Keep in mind that the rankings update on Thursdays, so results from the previous weekend may not be in the system yet.
